Valentine’s Day DIY Dinner Date Inspiration

Oh hey, so guess what? Valentine’s Day is a week from today! Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… holy-month-going-way-too-fast… that’s what I said. ;) Well, Valentine’s Day has a tendency to sneak up on my husband and I, and we’re always left with no plans and end up getting take out from somewhere. Well, I didn’t want that to happen to all of you too, so I put together a little “Valentine’s Day DIY Dinner Date” inspiration shoot to inspire you all, complete with printables and recipes so you can have a dinner date at home for your Valentine’s Day! No need to worry about dinner reservations or expensive meals- just gather what you already have at home and have a nice romantic (and affordable) dinner for two!

I had some of my Every Last Vendor pros help me make all of this happen, and they truly rocked it out! My friends Caroline and Evan Photography came and shot everything in my BACKYARD, and Kevin of Good Food Catering whipped up the fabulous 3 course meal in my teeny tiny kitchen. Lauren of Palm Papers created a printable invite, different versions of printable menus, and even little DIY gift items too! I’ll have more about the printables and recipes at the end of the post… but right now, it’s time to get inspired! :) [Oh and PS- since we did this in my backyard, I bribed my husband (with the yummy food of course) to hangout so we could be the "couple" for the shoot. Of course my pup Penney didn't need any bribing- she's a model. ;) Plus we needed new photos of our little "family", and I'm all about killing two birds with one stone!]

Fun little extra: I broke out our champagne glasses from our wedding day! We hadn’t seen those in forever- I was quite proud of myself for remembering them! ;)

My husband and I are high school sweethearts, so I made one of the “gifts” a throw back to the days of writing notes to each other- before texting existed. Remember all of the fun ways to fold notes back then?!

Annnnd time for a little photo shoot with the prettiest dog ever, Penney… ;)

I’ll tell you what- I kind of really loved being able to do a shoot in my backyard. I think it’s safe to say that you can expect to see more of these backyard shoots in the future! The only thing I didn’t like about it was that I had to clean my house like a crazy woman- not quite my cup of tea. ;)

So now about the printables, gifts, and recipes … you can download the printable files and recipes here. There are 3 different color combinations (red/aqua, red/pink, and red/silver) for the printable items so you can pick whichever one you want! A few simple instructions…

“Reasons I Love You” Gift: Fold a piece of colored paper in one of the fun note folds from “back in the day”. Print out the Reasons cards, cut them, and fill them in with your reasons, then place the cards inside the “note”!

“Some Sugar For My Sweetheart” Bag: Place your sweetheart’s favorite sweets inside a bag, and seal it with the printable label! I printed mine on a full sheet label and then cut it down, but you could also just add a piece of double stick tape to paper to seal it!

Menus: There are 3 different types of menus that you can use. One has the complete menu according to the recipes provided. Another has the complete menu minus the steak, and another has blank portions that you can write in your own menu!

Recipes: The recipes and instructions are all included in the download. And FYI, it is all SUPER tasty and easy! :)

And that’s about it! Super easy, right?! A HUGE thank you to Caroline and Evan Photography, Good Food Catering, and Palm Papers, who were awesome in helping me provide you all with this Valentine’s Day Dinner Date inspiration! Oh and there’s also a “behind the scenes” post over on Caroline and Evan’s blog, complete with a video too! Go check it out! :)

So now I want to hear from you all… do you have any plans for Valentine’s Day yet? Has this inspired you to have a dinner date at home? I hope so! :) Oh and totally unrelated… don’t you think Penney is the prettiest dog in the world?! ;)

Modern White, Green & Aqua Wedding

Happy Wednesday! So I think the good thing about a big holiday taking place over the weekend is that it’s not quite as hard to get back into the hang of things afterwards. Kind of. :) I’m finally home, and oh-so-glad to be back in my office with my lovely new business partner (aka iMac)! I hope all of you are getting back into the swing of things too! Perhaps this modern white wedding that I have for you all today from Denise Nicole Photography will help! The beautiful bride, Veronique, will be sharing a little insight into her wedding day too… let’s begin the gorgeousness, shall we?

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I actually did everything myself but a big help was the L’Auberge on-ste coordinator, Allison Kopecky who helped with the day-of logistics so I could kick back and enjoy.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

The most important thing to us as a couple when choosing our vendors was to make sure they understood our relaxed personalities. However, we wanted everything perfect! I guess you could say we were a bit of an oxymoron in that sense. It was important that our vendors and partners played an integral role, yet at the same time didn’t.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

YES!  Denise Nicole actually had a beautiful 24 x 36 canvas made of her favorite select from the shots she took. It is now custom framed and is in a prime position in our main living area of our home.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The venue was extraordinary. The weather was amazing and the food was delicious. However, I have to say my favorite part about our wedding was having all of our family and friends from all walks of our life in one location at one time. It won’t ever happen again and it was pretty magical.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

It’s about you and your husband-to-be, no one else.

Well said Veronique, well said! I’ll tell you what- I think my favorite part of this wedding is all of the gorgeous white used, accented by the green and aqua. What a pretty and modern color palette! Oh, and did you catch her hairstyle change after the ceremony? Love it! :) A big thank you to Denise Nicole Photography for sharing this wedding with us, and to Veronique for telling us all about it!

Aqua and Green Florida Beach Wedding

Hi everyone! I am so very excited to finally introduce you all to Kristine of In Love, Engaged! Kristine is the newest addition to the ELD Editorial team, and she’s going to be gracing ELD posts with her lovely self every now and then! Get ready for some weddings, inspiration, and maybe even some advice from her too- she did JUST get married after all! :) Give Kristine a big welcome! You’re going to love her! :)

Hello ELD readers! I’m so thrilled to be here with you all today and to be joining this fabulous blog. Isn’t Lauren great?! I can tell you’re nodding your heads in agreement. Good!

I have to say, I’m really glad I get to share this wedding from Captured By Jenny as my first with you all. Besides the stunning photography and incredible detail shots, this couple is JUST PLAIN HAPPY. And they should be considering they’ve known each other since sixth grade. Sixth grade! How cool is that? They also incorporated some really neat details into their wedding–a Philadelphia cake to represent their home city, their dog as the flower girl, and tables named after Tom Petty lyrics {their fave} that played the song when opened! So, grab a warm drink on this first day of Fall and stay awhile because you’ll want to soak up all the loveliness in these photos. Plus, there’s an interview with the bride, Krista, too!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

“The Knot.com” was a life saver! It helped me stay on track with everything- including the small details! My Hubby was also a big help :)

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

When choosing who to work with for the wedding, the most important thing was connection. It was very important that my vendors and I were on the same level. They were just as excited as I was, we shared the same vision, and we both knew what to expect.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

All of my vendors rocked! They all meshed together and made the day go smoothly. My wedding planner, Kristen, from The Planning Company was by my side the whole time, like a “wedding coach” and kept everything running smoothly and gave impromptu directions- I couldn’t have survived the day without her! She also handled all the problems- I’m sure much more than I was even aware of!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Being blown away! All the decor, cake included, and the small details blended so well together and created a beautiful expression of who Jim and I are. The Planning Company took our vision and truly delivered! It was really great to create this intimate atmosphere and share it with our closest friends and family.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Do NOT underestimate the power of a wedding planner!! The price of their service will pay for itself in many ways!

A very sincere thanks to Captured by Jenny for sharing these stunning images from the day and to the just-as-stunning bride, Krista, for her great insight!

Don’t you just love these photos? They really create a picture of the day and make you feel like you were there. And doesn’t this couple look as happy as can be? That’s by far my favorite part. What’s yours?! I can’t wait to hear.

Eclectic Outdoor Wedding: Part 1

I just LOVE eclectic. It’s so fun, and often times, SO very much a true reflection of the bride and groom. This eclectic outdoor wedding from Raspberry Rain Images is most definitely that. And I’m loving the bridesmaids’ look in this wedding- neutral colored dresses with a different color shoe for each girl!
