A little bit from Jessica…

This photo shoot was created at La Cupola Ristorante & Inn, which is situated in the historic town of Litchfield, Connecticut. The owner (Frank Rosa) is from Italy and loves weddings- he believes that weddings should be an intimate gathering of family and close friends.  Frank loves family style reception tables vs. the typical round tables because it’s an amazing, quaint setting that lets people connect and enjoy each others company.

With my table designs, I wanted to create a look that was simplistic, yet completely romantic.  We used a mix of different vases and added color with gerrondos gerbera daisies.  Pint mayo jars filled with garden roses, millet and gerbera daisies then touches of candles added in the element of simplicity. We added a touch of rustic charm by adding an old board down the center of the table, on top of a gorgeous biscuit color crushed linen.

The other table setting was created with two farmhouse style tables. I added chocolate colored burlap for a simple runner, adding to the overall feel of the table setting. Three chocolate stone urns were overflowing with antique green hydrangea, ‘Miranda’ garden roses, ‘Cool water’ and ‘Faith’ roses.  I used a collection of various vintage drinking cups and dessert cups as vases to bring a little touch of color and more detail to the table setting (I found some wonderful vintage glasses on Etsy and in stores).

Sara Faella creates couture head pieces. (She has a incredible selection on her web site to pick from- anything from birdcage veils to floral and feather clips adorned with Swarovski crystals.) Sara also travels throughout New England styling hair and make-up for clients.  Her pieces paired wonderfully with the gowns from The Plumed Serpent.  The full length gown our model wore was a Romona Keveza organza gown covered with hand formed organza flowers.  All accessories are by Debra Moreland for Paris.

Kelly’s Sweet Rewards created cakes that coordinated with each of our table settings.  She also hand crafted the most delicate cupcakes with sugar flowers. Linen napkins designed by Butterfly & company were a perfect addition to the cake table.

This shoot is truly romantic simplicity with a touch of rustic details. And you all KNOW I’m loving that cake with the yellow detailing too. Thank you to Jessica for sharing this great inspiration shoot with us, and thank you to all of the vendors that made it happen!

And so, I created details that were designed to show the effect that details can have on wedding décor. I started with making Chivari chair accents to mimic the look of the popular ribbon and pearl necklaces. A needle and thread, a little ribbon,”pearls” and some pink tulle, and voila- our Chivaris were dressed up, modern, chic style!

Okay, and I made a necklace for Batly, Amanda of MMD Events’ dog! How stinkin’ cute is she?

I created a few different table numbers, all of which were designed to be a part of the whole table décor. Although I love paper, I wanted something more than just a number in a frame. I was going for table numbers as objects and actually PART of the table.

I took specialty scrapbook paper and made paper chargers- a great way to add some color to the table at an incredibly affordable price.

MMD Events created a magnetic escort card display board, complete with a pink frame and gray background. I created escort cards using specialty paper as a background to frame the cards, adding a nice design element to the plain white cards.

And then of course there were the flowers- simple, but they made a statement. Peonies, baby’s breath, and dusty miller paired with lots of candles were the perfect combination for the modern, chic look for this shoot.

The key to this whole look is to keep things clean and simple. Minimal design is key for a look like this. Tying in different elements to become a PART of the décor instead of an addition makes everything look more cohesive and complete. Details are probably the most important part of a wedding- they can make or break it!

And now for some more exciting news! With this photo shoot, I’ve decided to launch an Etsy Store just for wedding details! It will of course be called Every Last Detail, and will include table numbers, decor elements, favors, escort items, and other custom details. This photo shoot started off as my scheming for a bridal show setup for MMD Events- pink and gray, peonies, baby’s breath, simple, modern, etc, to act as sort of a live inspiration board at a show. And then I started toying with the idea of a photo shoot (two weeks prior, mind you), because I’m completely obsessed with the colors of pink and gray, and I didn’t want beautiful flowers to go to waste! And so, what I like to call the “Twitterfied Photo Shoot”, was born.

I say that this shoot was a “Twitterfied Photo Shoot” because many of the details were provided by vendors who responded to a tweet of mine, asking if any vendors had something they would like to contribute. It all started with Kristen Weaver saying that she would shoot it, and the shoot was on! Then the vendors came rolling in. Some totally gorgeous hair pieces were provided by Bethany Lorelle, and I’m now hooked. Monet sent the most perfect jewelry- I was in accessory heaven. The Etsy store LindenLovebirds sent the most perfect pink and gray shoe clips that went perfectly with the gray shoes our model wore. Southern Fete sent paper products designed to match the style and color scheme of the shoot. Marni of Creative Custom Cardboxes whipped up a pink and gray cardbox, and our Twitterfied Photo Shoot was complete! Oh and of course the details that I created for the shoot too!

And I of course can’t forget the local vendors who participated too! Gorgeous Chivari chairs were provided by Signature Event Rentals, and the perfect gray linens were from Connie Duglin. The Dressing Room gave us a Simone Cavalli dress that fit our model perfectly- it was like it was made for her. MMD Events provided all of the florals and decor, bringing my vision to life! The model’s hair and makeup was done by Michele Renee, and she did an amazing job emulating the look we were going for. And of course thank you to Melissa, our model, who rocked it and put up with all of our crazy antics! Oh, and another HUGE thank you to to Kristen Weaver for being such an awesome photographer!

{BONUS TIP!} Along with saving and tagging things in Google Reader, I also use a program called Evernote to save things I see online that inspire me. It’s a perfect way to keep track of things on the internet, because it saves the photo as well as the address that the photo is found at. It’s SUCH a perfect tool for brides to use to save the things they like! I highly recommend it!

It’s also pretty cool to have all different accessories though, especially if you’re going for a more eclectic look for your wedding.
