DIY Wedding Detail Inspiration!

Happy Tuesday everyone! As you all know, I’m all about having personal, unique details at your wedding. And some of the absolute best details are the ones that you DIY and infuse your own personality into! For today, I thought I would do something a little different to provide you with some DIY detail inspiration.

Well so I don’t know about you, but I’m a regular at Michaels. I’m surprised they don’t know me by name already! When Michaels contacted me and told me about these DIY projects on their site, I knew I wanted to share them with you all because they would be perfect for wedding details! Oh and they have the instructions and a list of materials for each project, so even if you’re not a crafting maniac, you can still make all of these details!

DIY Detail: Twine & Yarn Wrapped Vase

These twine and yarn wrapped vases are perfect for all of you rustic brides out there! I love the idea of grouping different sizes together to create a “centerpiece”, don’t you?

DIY Detail: Paper Bag Favors

Another detail that would be perfect for a rustic wedding… paper bag favors! These would be great for any style of wedding though- vintage, classic, modern… you can just accentuate them according to your wedding’s style.

DIY Detail: Hanging Yarn Lanterns

These hanging yarn lanterns are an awesome piece of decor, and perfect for any style of wedding! You could hang them from trees, in groupings over tables, or even as a big chandelier over your dance floor!

DIY Detail: Pail Favors

I think these silver pail favors are my favorite! They’re not only absolutely cute and something that guests can take home and KEEP, but they could also double as escort “items” or even placecards! I’m all about killing two birds with one stone when it comes to escort/seating and favors! You could even arrange these on your table to be incorporated as part of a centerpiece too!

I have an excellent surprise for you! Michaels is giving all of you 20% off your entire wedding items purchase! How great is that?! Click here to receive the discount coupon!

So what do you all think? Are you going to be making any of these DIY details for your wedding? Which project is your favorite??

Vendor of the Week: Meg Baisden Photography

I know I say that I’m excited every single time I introduce you all to another ELV member, but really, I truly am SO very excited every time! I love that I can tell you all about such amazing people! :) Of course Meg and Charles of Meg Baisden Photography are no exception… their photography is absolutely amazing! And now you get to learn a little more about them…

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

At Meg Baisden Photography, we are focused on documenting your wedding in a timeless, classic way. We want your images to relevant in ten years, twenty years, and one hundred years from now. We achieve that by capturing real moments – emotion, feelings, and connections between our bride & groom, their family, and their friends. We create bright, fresh work that reflects the current modern trends within the wedding photography industry, we add a mixture of vintage treatments, but the common thread throughout our work is a respect for the classic style of wedding photography that has remained en vogue throughout the ages.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

One of our favorite weddings details is more of a tradition… but it starts with a detail. New Orleans is known for its celebrations. Our favorite wedding tradition is the “second line” – a New Orleans tradition where the bride & groom lead a parade through the French Quarter. Guests, friends, and family all participate by waving handkerchiefs in the air. So the second line handkerchief is our favorite wedding detail to see in action!

What is your favorite store or brand?

Meg is a design enthusiast so her favorite brands would fall into the realm of furniture & home styling – Pottery Barn, West Elm, Restoration Hardware, Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Ballard Designs… basically anything to do with home fashion… you’ll find it a catalog somewhere in our home!

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

We always advise our brides to “be in the moment” first & foremost. This is true not just on your wedding day, but throughout your planning process. You’re waited your entire life for this experience. So savor it, and enjoy it!

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

We love the emotion of weddings. The tender moments, and tear-filled toasts. It’s what makes this job a true labor of love.

And definitely go check out more of their work in their ELV gallery, and then go to their AWESOME website!! So amazing! And remember- they’re based in Florida, but will certainly go ANYWHERE to shoot your wedding! :)

Vendor of the Week: Ten Four Paper

You might recognize this week’s Vendor of the Week, Ten Four Paper, from a photo shoot that I featured earlier this year with a few other Every Last Vendor members! I absolutely loved that so many ELV members participated in that shoot, because I got to meet so many of the pros… Julie of Ten Four Paper being one of them! She is the kindest, sweetest person, and she’s got a pretty awesome eye for design too!

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

I am Eclectic because my paper designs are based on the individual style of each of my clients, and are as unique as they are! There is always a fun mix of personal details that make each invitation special. I work with all different types of clients; those with fancy, modern, big-city weddings, and those with rustic, small-town celebrations. No style or idea is off limits, and I create with a passion for out-of-the-box concepts that give guests something truly special to receive in the mail.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

My favorite wedding detail I’ve ever created was the Save the Date from my own wedding. I told the story of how my husband and I met through fun typography and witty commentary. It set the tone for our intimate, funky wedding, and many people told me it was the coolest piece of mail they had ever received! I loved sharing the story that means so much to me and my husband.

What is your favorite store or brand?

I love Crate and Barrel. I think our entire home is from that store! It is classic and modern at the same time, and they offer quality goods at moderate prices. They have many sleek staple items that you can’t live without, accompanied by great accent pieces with bright pops of color. It is a brand I really respect for its longevity, but also for its ability to keep up with trends and new ideas.

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

My number one advice to any bride is to not get overwhelmed by everyone else’s input and opinions. A wedding is about the bride and groom and their love story. If traditions are important to you as a couple, then you should certainly follow them. However, I encourage couples to keep the focus on what THEY want, and not to get discouraged by the idea of what a wedding is “supposed” to be. Follow your hearts and don’t listen to naysayers, and your day will be perfect because it is yours!

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

My favorite thing about weddings are the couples behind them! I’m a sucker for a good story, particularly a good love story. People come together in the most amazing ways. In a world that is often overloaded with bad news, I am always fulfilled by focusing on love. A wedding is the ultimate celebration of love, and a truly happy experience I am honored to be a part of!

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

I was recently a bride, so I can completely relate to the stress involved in planning such a big event. I am very detail-oriented and deadline-driven, and I understand how much communication and timeliness mean to a couple planning a wedding. I am not easily frazzled, and I am 100% confident in my ability to create wonderful paper products that reflect the personalities of my clients. I get really excited about each project I work on, and I am truly passionate about what I do!

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

I am a great communicator and I love producing beautiful designs. I encourage my clients to focus on the meaning of the big day, and not to get overwhelmed by things that zap the fun out of the planning process. My goal is to help my clients with quality service and communication, so their invitations are one less thing to worry about! I want them to be EXCITED about their big day, not stressed out about it!

I love Ten Four Paper‘s fun, bold designs, don’t you? Be sure to head on over to their ELV listing to see more of Ten Four Paper‘s work, and then visit their website to see even more!

Vendor of the Week: Jordan Weiland Photography

Another week has begun, and I get to share another fabulous Vendor of the Week with you all! :) This week we have the lovely Jordan Weiland Photography. Based in Lakeland, Florida and photography weddings all over, Jordan is just as awesome as her photography is…

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

Well this was hard for me. I classified myself as modern, which I think is the most obvious for my style. My photographs are classic in that I create images that will stand the test of time, but they are not ‘traditional’ in style. I love creating images that show emotion, don’t look posed and have life to them.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

The last wedding that I shot had a thumb-print tree for a guest book. The bride’s friend had painted this amazing tree for everyone to place their thumbprint on. It was gorgeous! I thought it was a great idea and it was executed really well.

What is your favorite store or brand?

I know lots of people say this, but Anthropologie all the way. It’s genius. Even their window displays are works of art.

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

Don’t do things just because they’ve always been done or you think you should. Do what you want to do. Make your wedding your own. Oh, and get a great photographer! When the wedding is over, all you have is memories and images. Make sure they are a true representation of all of your hard work.

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

I love the moment when the groom sees his bride for the first time. There’s usually tears and smiles; I love that.

Be sure to head over to Jordan’s ELV listing to see more of her work! And if you’re in Florida, give her a call- and tell her I sent you! :)
