If you’re just now catching up, start here at Part 1, then go to Part 2, and now I give you the DIY projects from the shoot…
Paper Doily Garland: This was a total labor of love. These started out in a completely different direction-I made a bunch, didn’t like them, and changed some things around. It definitely took me a while to get the hang of it, but once I did, it was a piece of cake. The full DIY is coming soon, but basically I used stardream champagne colored cardstock, tea dyed white paper doilies, and ribbon.
Table Number: I absolutely love table numbers, and of course I wanted to do something cool yet simple. I got a wooden number from Michael’s and painted it purple. I used Amazing Goop (which really is amazing) to glue it into a candle stick holder.
Fabric Screen: Another labor of love- emphasis on the labor. This is definitely something your fiancé can help you with. Better yet- give him the whole project to do. I am very proud to say that my husband only helped me with one of the panels, and I did the other two completely on my own! I used it to display escort cards, and it can also be a perfect backdrop for a photo/smile booth!
Items needed: wood, brackets, drill, hinges, fabric, and tacks. Once you get the system down pat, it would probably take 3 hours, not including staining the wood. I estimated this to be about $80 to make- the biggest expense was of course the fabric, and it depends on the type of fabric you use. I originally planned to do a DIY post for this, but I figured it would be too technical and boring. But if you want a DIY for this project, let me know and I can definitely put one together!
All in all, just about everything about the shoot was DIY, but these are the things I kind of “made from scratch”. Again, I wanted the emphasis to have things that everyone would be able to do.
A big huge THANK YOU to Sammy of J. Monet Studios for her beautiful photos, and for all of the other vendors that helped out with this shoot! I hope you all enjoyed it!
What great DIY projects!! I love the paper doily garland, and the colors are amazing. Thanks for sharing
Lauren, this is GORGEOUS. I love this project; the hydrangeas, the invitation design, the entire tablescape! This is so inspiring!
Love the fabric screen I would say it is worth the labor. I can think of so many uses for it.
