Navy & Pink Vintage Vineyard Wedding

I have an absolutely GORGEOUS vineyard wedding for you all today by Aaron Watson Photography and Beehive Events! The combination of both rustic and vintage elements paired with a navy and pink color palette is so very beautiful- especially for the gorgeous vineyard where the wedding took place. Of course I can’t forget the fabulous florals all throughout the wedding… you all know I’m a sucker for great florals! :) And the lovely bride, Stephanie, is joining us to share some of the wedding insight she gained throughout her planning…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

The planning process was all me, but Shawn Cosette at Beehive Events portrayed my vision flawlessly and beyond my expectations.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to work with people that were not only willing to work hand in hand with me, but people that were not afraid to step outside the box.  I knew I wanted a chic vintage feel, but with some key touches that were a little unique.  Everyone was amazing at helping me create it!!!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I don’t know that any bride could have been happier with her wedding.  But a few things did stick out in my mind:

The venue.  Until you take a trip to Veritas Vineyards in Afton, VA, you will never know how truly breathtaking the view is.  What more could you ask for than all your friends and family witnessing the love you have for each other while taking in the scenery of the Shenandoah Valley!  Add in the unforgettable décor by Shawn Cosette and poof!  The dream you have always envisioned as a little girl has come true.

The ceremony.  Rev. Claire Goodman helped Leigh and I come up with a special wine ceremony during our vows.  Prior to our wedding Claire asked us to write a letter to each other (not read them) and fill a wine crate with two bottles of wine.  During the ceremony, we put our letters into the box and symbolically hammered it shut.  The reason for this was if our marriage ever endured serious hardships in the future, we promised to sit down together, drink the wine and read the letters that reminded us of how much we loved each other on our wedding day.  Well, we have almost made it through year one, and that crate has not been opened yet!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

There were two pieces of advice given to Leigh and me before our big day that we have held close to our hearts and would love to pass on.  The first is to make sure you not only enjoy every minute of the planning, but on the day of your wedding-the two of you step back from the crowd for a minute and take in the fact that all the love in that room is for you.  Your wedding day can be a very overwhelming experience, and you always want to visually remember that one very special moment.

The second piece of advice was to always remember you are a team.  It is hard for Brides to realize sometimes that your special day also includes your husband!  But their opinion does count too, and in the future as long as you stay a team; sometimes against parents, sometimes against friends-you should be able to endure anything.

Thank you to Stephanie for sharing her insight with us, and to Aaron Watson Photography for sharing his images so we can all be inspired! :)

I’m always a fan of the bolder color palettes like the pink and navy in this wedding… but I think the Mr & Mrs signs at the sweetheart table win my pick for favorite detail! You all know I love my Mr & Mrs signs! Although, I do love the bottles of win sealed up in a crate with letters too! ;) How about you all… what’s your favorite detail of this wedding? And what do you think of the colors, navy and pink? Will any of you be using those colors?

Rustic Elegant Yellow & Green Wedding Inspiration

Yay! I am so very excited to finally share this rustic, elegant inspiration shoot with you! A few months ago, I was with my friends Caroline & Evan Photography and A&P Designs at an event conference, and we were literally *struck* with inspiration. A short car ride time spent scheming and 24 hours later, and we had created this rustic, elegant inspiration shoot! It was featured on The Wedding Chicks last week, and now I get to share it with you all! Full of rustic inspiration, it’s perfect if you’re wanting a more casual feel for your wedding… or it could also be great inspiration for a rehearsal dinner!

Our initial bit of inspiration came from the awesome tablecloth we found by Under Stella’s Umbrella- rustic, yet elegant. Then we came across a rosemary wreath by FiftyFlowers.com, and thus came about the incorporation of rosemary elements into details. I wanted the table to have more of a “family style” feel to it, and so we made custom wine labels, put buckets of silverware at the end of each table, and had a tray of rosemary seasalt rolls with olive oil… all becoming part of the tablescape. Add in some yellow, green and white flowers, antique wooden chairs and piece from my favorite antique shop Paper Street Market, and we had our rustic, elegant inspiration shoot!

What do you all think? Remember now… it was put together in less than 24 hours! And disclaimer… I am most definitely NOT a florist- I know the little flower arrangements are a little off-looking. ;) But it was all about the inspiration for us… please tell me you’re inspired! :)

Oh, and FYI… Caroline & Evan Photography have decided to celebrate today’s feature with a little something special… keep an eye out for a post coming later today all about it! ;)

What a lot of great ideas. The wreaths and the clothespins to attach the escort cards are genius. I am going to send this idea to a friend who is planning an outdoor wedding for next summer.

Vendor of the Week: Ten Four Paper

You might recognize this week’s Vendor of the Week, Ten Four Paper, from a photo shoot that I featured earlier this year with a few other Every Last Vendor members! I absolutely loved that so many ELV members participated in that shoot, because I got to meet so many of the pros… Julie of Ten Four Paper being one of them! She is the kindest, sweetest person, and she’s got a pretty awesome eye for design too!

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

I am Eclectic because my paper designs are based on the individual style of each of my clients, and are as unique as they are! There is always a fun mix of personal details that make each invitation special. I work with all different types of clients; those with fancy, modern, big-city weddings, and those with rustic, small-town celebrations. No style or idea is off limits, and I create with a passion for out-of-the-box concepts that give guests something truly special to receive in the mail.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

My favorite wedding detail I’ve ever created was the Save the Date from my own wedding. I told the story of how my husband and I met through fun typography and witty commentary. It set the tone for our intimate, funky wedding, and many people told me it was the coolest piece of mail they had ever received! I loved sharing the story that means so much to me and my husband.

What is your favorite store or brand?

I love Crate and Barrel. I think our entire home is from that store! It is classic and modern at the same time, and they offer quality goods at moderate prices. They have many sleek staple items that you can’t live without, accompanied by great accent pieces with bright pops of color. It is a brand I really respect for its longevity, but also for its ability to keep up with trends and new ideas.

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

My number one advice to any bride is to not get overwhelmed by everyone else’s input and opinions. A wedding is about the bride and groom and their love story. If traditions are important to you as a couple, then you should certainly follow them. However, I encourage couples to keep the focus on what THEY want, and not to get discouraged by the idea of what a wedding is “supposed” to be. Follow your hearts and don’t listen to naysayers, and your day will be perfect because it is yours!

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

My favorite thing about weddings are the couples behind them! I’m a sucker for a good story, particularly a good love story. People come together in the most amazing ways. In a world that is often overloaded with bad news, I am always fulfilled by focusing on love. A wedding is the ultimate celebration of love, and a truly happy experience I am honored to be a part of!

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

I was recently a bride, so I can completely relate to the stress involved in planning such a big event. I am very detail-oriented and deadline-driven, and I understand how much communication and timeliness mean to a couple planning a wedding. I am not easily frazzled, and I am 100% confident in my ability to create wonderful paper products that reflect the personalities of my clients. I get really excited about each project I work on, and I am truly passionate about what I do!

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

I am a great communicator and I love producing beautiful designs. I encourage my clients to focus on the meaning of the big day, and not to get overwhelmed by things that zap the fun out of the planning process. My goal is to help my clients with quality service and communication, so their invitations are one less thing to worry about! I want them to be EXCITED about their big day, not stressed out about it!

I love Ten Four Paper‘s fun, bold designs, don’t you? Be sure to head on over to their ELV listing to see more of Ten Four Paper‘s work, and then visit their website to see even more!
