This is such great advice and probably one of the hardest things to do! :)

@Krista Agreed! I kept visualizing, and re visualizing my wedding every time I saw a new blog post with amazingly awesome details. I found that keeping a physical inspiration board where I clipped pictures from magazines and printed from the internet help keep me on track as well. I didn't have to do the heavy mental work of remembering, I just had to look at my inspiration boards and ask, "does this new detail fit?"

Purple, Green & Gray Plantation Wedding

Today’s wedding from Kay Meyer Photography has a little rustic, a little elegant, and a whole lot of inspiration! The colors are a beautiful combination of purple, green, and gray, with a lovely plantation as the backdrop for everything to take place. And my favorite part of this wedding… it’s inspired by herbs! As someone who absolutely loves fresh herbs, I was excited to see how the bride and groom used herbs to inspire their details! The bride Kristin is here with us sharing some insight into the planning of her lovely wedding- take it away Kristin!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

There were many people that helped us along the way to making our wedding a great success. I come from a crafty family and so a handmade wedding was high on the priority list and a lot of our decisions were based on how free we were to customize. Advice form a random assortment of magazines and blogs helped us organize initially and then seeing friends get married helped with the questions of execution. My mom and friends were a big help in planning and creating all of the pretty details that were a big part of the day.

Our Planner John Gandy was great at taking our ideas and blending it with what he had to create the perfect decor, organizing meetings with our preferred vendors and making sure that our decisions all flowed together and left very little gaps.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We looked for friendly and creative people who were willing to do some experimenting and didn’t break the bank.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

All of our venders were very great to work with and were willing to go above and beyond to ensure we ended up with a great evening to share with our family and friends. Kay Meyer our photographer was excellent the whole process from giving us fun and creative E and B shoots, working with us on unusual requests and being very timely with her production. John Gandy earned his pay the day of by helping it be super streamlined and by taking care of things we didnt even know needed to be done. Karmano’s Printing was the best for our invitations and thank you’s, Amanda worked really hard to get us just what we wanted and was able to utilize my own artwork and turn it into something simply beautiful that all our guests raved about. Our Band the Casey Marshal Group was fabulous. They played GREAT music and kept the music playing as they were tearing down after the reception because we had quite a few friend still dancing and partying on the dance floor long after we ‘left’. Our bartender ‘ On the Rocks’ was simply amazing and put a lot of effort into ensuring the bridal party was taken care of from the moment the ceremony was over and the guests were very pleased with the service. Our venue, Pebble Hill Plantation was the perfect choice because they offered ultimate flexibility in a charming atmosphere that all of our mostly out of town guests adored. They allowed us to let our guests to have carriage rides around the garden,  roam the grounds and tour the Main House Museum freely during cocktail hour which put everyone in a good and excited mood for our entrance, no one was ever bored the whole night.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing was that the moment  the processional music started, both the bridal party and the guests were able to relax and just have an amazing and fun time. We had so many complements from all who attended that it was the most fun they have had at a wedding in a long time.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Keep things natural and to your personality. The best success comes from knowing you, your guests and your venue well and letting the personalities of them shine through with all of your little details, that’s when your day will be perfect.

Yes, LOVE that advice! Making sure you’re reflecting your personalities is the key to amazing details! :) Thank you for sharing with us Kristin, and a big thank you to Kay Meyer Photography for capturing all of the amazing shots she did!

So what do you all think of the herb-inspired details? I love that each centerpiece was a bit different… and the herb toss for going down the aisle is such a great idea, don’t you think?! I think if my husband and I were to plan our wedding again, we would definitely incorporate herbs into our details. How about you all- will any of you be incorporating herbs or something similar into your wedding?

Inspiration Board: Bold & Bright Color Blocking

I am *quite* excited about this inspiration board I have for you all today! Why you ask? Well because it’s the beginnings of my next shoot! I realized that I had been a little stir-crazy lately, and I chalked it all up to the fact that it’s been a few months since I’ve designed an inspiration shoot! The inspiration for this whole shoot is in the board below- before I tell you, I want you to try to guess it…

Row 1: Color Palette, Bouquet, Drinks, Cake, Invitation

Row 2: Streamers, Plate, Flatware

Row 3: Aisle, Bridesmaids, Cards

Well? Did you guess my inspiration? You may have been able to guess it just from what I titled the board, but it’s that plate! I saw those plates in Target about a month ago, and I kept going back and just staring at them and all of their accessories. I swear- the people who walked by must have thought I was possessed! So I finally just gave in and bought tons of goodies, and now I’m getting things into motion to make a shoot out of it! I absolutely love the variations of the colors- it’s not quite like ombre… I would say it’s more like color blocking. Of course the first step to planning a shoot is creating an inspiration board, and I just had to share it all with you because it’s so very appropriate for today- you know, because it’s MAY- meaning SUMMER- now! (Um, when did that happen?!)

So tell me, what do you think of this inspiration? Do you love it, or is it too bold and bright for your taste? Even better… are any of you using any of these colors for your wedding?!

Vendor of the Week: Jordan Weiland Photography

Another week has begun, and I get to share another fabulous Vendor of the Week with you all! :) This week we have the lovely Jordan Weiland Photography. Based in Lakeland, Florida and photography weddings all over, Jordan is just as awesome as her photography is…

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

Well this was hard for me. I classified myself as modern, which I think is the most obvious for my style. My photographs are classic in that I create images that will stand the test of time, but they are not ‘traditional’ in style. I love creating images that show emotion, don’t look posed and have life to them.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

The last wedding that I shot had a thumb-print tree for a guest book. The bride’s friend had painted this amazing tree for everyone to place their thumbprint on. It was gorgeous! I thought it was a great idea and it was executed really well.

What is your favorite store or brand?

I know lots of people say this, but Anthropologie all the way. It’s genius. Even their window displays are works of art.

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

Don’t do things just because they’ve always been done or you think you should. Do what you want to do. Make your wedding your own. Oh, and get a great photographer! When the wedding is over, all you have is memories and images. Make sure they are a true representation of all of your hard work.

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

I love the moment when the groom sees his bride for the first time. There’s usually tears and smiles; I love that.

Be sure to head over to Jordan’s ELV listing to see more of her work! And if you’re in Florida, give her a call- and tell her I sent you! :)
