“Today’s inspiration board is a little bit retro, very chic – with just a touch of whimsy! I love the bright splashes of red, offset by the bright white and shiny black. And that cake – pretty fantastic, right? As is that (adorable) vintage birdie bridal cake topper! (Try saying that a few times fast – tongue twister!) At the end of the day, this board is fun, fresh, and a little bit funky.”

I LOVE the look of all white! I definitely think we’ll be seeing a lot more modern weddings with a look like this in the coming year. Anyone planning on having a chic, modern wedding? If so, what colors are you using?

If you haven’t figured out that I love any color paired with gray, well, you should by now. I created this sort of as an inspiration board specific to Every Last Detail, since the colors of the site are somewhat aqua and gray. (While making this board, I realized that I’ve yet to see a wedding with the color palette of aqua and gray. I’m sure there’s been one, so if you’ve seen it, please send it to me!)

The awesome thing about aqua and gray is that it can be used for just about any wedding, and that can all be thanks to the wonderful color of gray. Whether it’s a beach wedding or a ballroom wedding, anything with gray is going to be absolutely chic and gorgeous!

Modern, chic, and perfect for any season and any wedding. I’m thinking that perhaps an aqua and gray photo shoot could be in the works!

Well, this my friends, is the inspiration board brought to life! I LOVE doing photo shoots, and even more I love seeing the inspiration board and everything pulled together! With flowers and decor from MMD Events, Tina Bass Photography, and shooting at the amazing Postcard Inn in St. Petersburg, everything came together gorgeously. This inspiration shoot was actually featured on Wedding Chicks yesterday, which means I’ve had to hold back from posting it- but not anymore, it’s all for you to see!

Now for a little bit from MMD Events (aka me): Our goal with this shoot was to show brides that they can use bright colors and bold patterns and still be chic and modern. Placed with unique plates, the simple, chic menus created by Emily Ley Paper were the starting element. A simplistic colored border and matching font coordinated with the color of the napkins and the “place books”. Place cards created by Emily were made to look like “titles” for miniature books, doubling as favors at each place setting. Various found objects and a unique table number created by Every Last Detail added to the eclectic feel for the table.

A gorgeous centerpiece in shades of pink garden roses was placed on top of fashion magazines, standing out against the backdrop of a chic black lamp. A champagne and gold overlay was draped over a kelly green satin linen, all provided by Connie Duglin Linen. Gold chivari chairs from Signature Event Rentals were adorned by custom chivari chair toppers created by Simply & Forever Boutique, adding the perfect amount of style and sophistication. Combined with a custom bench cover made of a black and white floral print, the black and white seating completed the whole table.

Our stunning model wore a gorgeous gown provided by White Closet Co. and was all dolled up by Hope Henderson Artistry and Hair By Monique. She was accessorized with Stella & Dot jewelry, Bethany Lorelle hairpieces, and an adorably chic clutch from Oatmeal Lace Design. These bright colors and bold patterns are perfect for a stylish bride wanting a wedding that is a little different, yet still incredibly chic. And of course the details are what complete this whole eclectic chic look!

You don’t see bold colors and design like this too often going around the blogosphere and I find myself wondering why. I think sometimes bold colors are done a little tacky, but the key to keeping it chic and modern is all in the details! I KNOW there has to be a handful of brides out there who have a style just like this in their everyday lives! So, what do you all think? Orange and aqua can really go well in any season- I immediately think of spring or summer, as many do, but use more orange and just accent with the aqua, and it’s perfect for fall! And for some reason there always seems to be super cool things in these colors, like fabric, dresses, jewelry, etc! Who’s using these colors for their wedding? I’m actually in the midst of putting together a photo shoot based on this design as well, so hopefully soon I’ll be sharing this inspiration board in more than just words! I”ll be honest, it is kind of odd until you see it all come together. It may be too bold for some, but for others, it could be the perfect eclectic mix!

And so, I created details that were designed to show the effect that details can have on wedding décor. I started with making Chivari chair accents to mimic the look of the popular ribbon and pearl necklaces. A needle and thread, a little ribbon,”pearls” and some pink tulle, and voila- our Chivaris were dressed up, modern, chic style!

Okay, and I made a necklace for Batly, Amanda of MMD Events’ dog! How stinkin’ cute is she? :)

I created a few different table numbers, all of which were designed to be a part of the whole table décor. Although I love paper, I wanted something more than just a number in a frame. I was going for table numbers as objects and actually PART of the table.

I took specialty scrapbook paper and made paper chargers- a great way to add some color to the table at an incredibly affordable price.

MMD Events created a magnetic escort card display board, complete with a pink frame and gray background. I created escort cards using specialty paper as a background to frame the cards, adding a nice design element to the plain white cards.

And then of course there were the flowers- simple, but they made a statement. Peonies, baby’s breath, and dusty miller paired with lots of candles were the perfect combination for the modern, chic look for this shoot.

The key to this whole look is to keep things clean and simple. Minimal design is key for a look like this. Tying in different elements to become a PART of the décor instead of an addition makes everything look more cohesive and complete. Details are probably the most important part of a wedding- they can make or break it!

And now for some more exciting news! With this photo shoot, I’ve decided to launch an Etsy Store just for wedding details!
