Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
While we love photographing all these styles of weddings, we consider our photography style to be modern because our images are fun and timeless. We do minimal posing and instead 'direct' our couples and allow them be natural with each other and show their love as it truly is. We work hard at our relationship with each other and with each of our couples so that we can show their personalities, play up their best features and end up shooting their wedding as their friends.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
Anything that incorporates the couples’ personality into the details- like when the bride wears sneakers or colored shoes, or when bouquets are something other than flowers. We had one one couple have an ice cream buffet because cake wasn’t them and it was awesome. My favorite detail from our wedding was the escort sign Evan built out of wood. We named all of our tables after islands we’ve been to and now the sign with all the islands and arrows is in our home.
What is your favorite store or brand?
Caroline: "I lots of brands and branding in general, my all-time favorite brand is probably Coca-Cola because it is so timeless and simple and bright, and I love pop art so that’s definitely an influence. Other favorites would be Rolling Stone Magazine, Apple and Target are all very strong brands I adore. And Ikea- I love clean lines and modern design. And have you seen the way that place is organized?!”
Evan: "Best Buy- because between the Mac section, all the electronics and all the movies and video games, you could not make me happier.
What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?
Find time at some point during your wedding day to take a minute to just the two of you. If you don't do a first look (which we recommend) find time after portraits or during the reception to steal away for a moment and just be with each other. We promise it’ll be worth it.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
Caroline: "I love the moments that no one else sees but I have the privilege to be part of as the photographer; like showing the bride what she looks like in my camera and watching her see herself as a bride for the first time, and I love right after the ceremony when the couple and bridal party have their time off to the side and everyone is hugging and so happy and caught up in the moment- that was one of my favorite parts of our wedding."
Evan: "The reception, because I love playing with the lighting and catching all the fun moments. And I also love when I get the chance to talk with the groom alone right before the ceremony and having a moment with him right before he marries his wife."
