Interview:
Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
Just because I run a vintage rental company most would assume I'm vintage. I'm actually quite the opposite. I'm eclectic because I love to help incorporate vintage elements with each of my clients style. I love to design events that are authentic and as unique as the couple is. When a couple comes to me they always have a love story, a fun story, a history. I love to challenge them to think outside the box and really pull in all the elements that scream them.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
I love when a couple ties in their hobbies, their love of music, sports, pets, and favorite foods. I love when you walk away from a wedding saying you have never seen one like it before. The best compliment is when the couple can look me in the eyes and say the day was so them and would not have been the same without me!
What is your favorite store or brand?
I love Anthropologie, Flea Markets, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel. You can say my home is a mixture of what I was feeling that day. I love the clean crisp lines that a modern white piece brings, at the same time I love the story and history that comes from owning a previously loved piece that I have cleaned up, and brought into my home. I am sucker for a creative display and handcrafted art. I see value in the artist and love the combine present day with vintage treasures.
What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?
My biggest advice is to not lose sight of your relationship and the true definition of marriage. Make choices together and involve the groom in your day. This day is a culmination of your love story so really make it authentic to yourselves. Make note of your budget before you book any vendors and prioritize together what elements are important to you both.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
There isn't one part of a wedding day I love the most. I love the glances, the looks, the whispers, the smiles, the tears and the love that radiates from two people. I find it to be the utmost honor when a couple has chosen to involve me in their special day.
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
I was recently a bride and a destination bride at that so I understand absolutely everything that comes with a wedding. It also helps that I am a wedding planner and designer so I really do get the importance of every key element of the day. I am extremely detail oriented and driven. I understand how much value lies in the communication and timeline of the event. I love every couple that I get to work with in so many ways and I am so fired up by the work I do!
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
I have a very open line of communication and I am extremely organized. I go into their wedding day very comfortable with how the day will go. I remind my clients that this day is about them, their families and the love they share. I stress the importance of focusing on the meaning of the day. Life throws you curve balls and many times your dress will get dirty, your hair will fall out of place, and you will get lipstick on your groom. The pictures and memories from that day are what you will remember. No one will remember the little things that only you knew about!
